Mirror/Flip Option for Captured Photos and Videos

Feature Request

Provide a native horizontal flip or mirror option for captured photos and videos, available as a booth preset and selectable before print, on both live view and output. Guests expect results to match the mirrored front-camera view they see on screen, and mirrored video is required for signature-style videos and for guests writing messages on glass in front of the camera. Related reports covered inverted webcam images on Apple devices.

Summary

Add a native horizontal flip/mirror option for captured photos and videos, controllable as a booth preset and/or selectable before print.

Problem

Guests increasingly expect their photos to match what they saw on screen during capture. Front-camera previews and mirror selfies on social media have trained users (especially younger guests) to see themselves mirrored. When the printed or saved output appears un-mirrored ("correct" orientation), it reads as wrong or unfamiliar to them. Operators report clients complaining that results don't look like the front-camera/mirrored image.

A separate but related use case is the emerging "signature" video format, where a guest appears to sign on their screen. This requires the video to be flipped 180 degrees horizontally so text and motion read correctly.

Requested Behavior

Add a horizontal flip/mirror setting that applies to capture output:

  • Print as Captured (default) - no change to current behavior

  • Print Mirrored / Flipped Horizontally - flips output horizontally

Configuration:

  • Selectable as a booth preset (operator sets once per booth event)

  • Applies to both photo and video output

Scope Notes

  • Applies to photos and videos. Video flip enables the "signature" format and other mirrored-motion effects.

  • Should not change the live preview behavior unless a related preview-rotation request is folded in (see linked post on rotating the preview).

  • Confirm interaction with existing overlays/text so mirrored output doesn't reverse branded text.

    Hello!

    Good news. The mirror and flip option you asked for is here. LumaBooth v5.4 for Apple and v8.3 for Windows lets you mirror or flip captured photos and videos, so what prints and shares matches what your guests see.

    Update LumaBooth to v5.4 from the App Store or download v8.3 for Windows from our website and you'll find the new option in your capture settings.

    Mirror photo/video for signing on camera

    Request a native "flip/mirror" option for photos/videos videos or vote in favor of an existing one.

    A new video model called "signature" is emerging, as if the person were signing on their cell phone screen. For this to work, the video needs to be able to rotate 180 degrees horizontally.

            This is usually done on a plexiglass / acrylic frame in front of the screen using a washable marker.

    Flip camera

    I work at events, and when I take photos through the iPad or connect a camera, your software flips the image and there’s no way to fix it. I would really appreciate a feature that resolves this as soon as possible. Thank you for all your service.

    Inverted or mirrored video

    Enable

    in the camera settings. This feature is helpful when individuals stand in front of a window and write a message while the camera is positioned behind the window. By using this option, the final video will display the written text in the correct orientation.
