I would like to suggest an additional crop mode for photo placeholders in the print layout editor.
A common use case is creating a print layout with multiple landscape-oriented photo placeholders, while the camera captures portrait-oriented photos.
Currently, this creates two problems:
Resizing the photo can distort the image.
Keeping the aspect ratio usually centers the image, making it impossible to choose which part of the portrait photo should be visible.
I would like an optional Crop/Fill mode where:
The original aspect ratio is always preserved.
The image fills the entire placeholder.
Any part extending outside the placeholder is simply cropped (clipped), not distorted.
The user can freely move the image within the placeholder (up, down, left, or right) to decide which area should remain visible.
For example, if a portrait photo is placed into a landscape placeholder, I may want to show only the upper half (faces) or only the lower half, instead of the image always being centered.
This would also allow creative layouts with overlapping placeholders and give much more flexibility when designing professional print templates without stretching or distorting photos.
